Timeless Trades Craft a Partnership

October 2007

A group of York-based firms dedicated to building restoration and conservation have come together to form The Timeless Trades Partnership

The Timeless Trades Partnership currenty includes York Brick & Stone, Don Barker Limited, Barker & Silk Ironmongery, the Wrought Iron Gallery and pureiron.com but there is scope for other heritage craftsmen to join them.

Whilst all of the companies will stay operationally separate it is hoped that the Timeless Trades Partnership will act as a focal point for both building trade and domestic customers looking for brick, stone and ironwork products and services with a single point of contact through the web and by phone.

The new partnership will be officially launched at Harrogate's Homebuilding & Renovating Show in November (9th - 11th).

Wigginton-based Don Barker, widely recognised as one of the UK's leading blacksmiths, commented: "This is an exciting development that makes a lot of commercial sense for all concerned although it will not affect the inherent individuality of each member firm.

"Timeless Trades Partnership represents a range of skills and crafts and we are interested in incorporating other Yorkshire businesses that focus on building restoration such as stonemasons, joiners and traditional plasterers.

"The growing awareness of traditional skills and crafts combined with increasing attention paid to distinguished private residences by homeowners suggests that we will play a big part in helping to preserve and maintain our architectural legacy," added Don.

Barker & Silk, the Wrought Iron Gallery and York Brick & Stone are all based at Elvington Industrial Estate with pureiron.com already established as a successful website for anyone interested in pure iron as an alternative to mild steel and wrought iron.
